New Ground

Located at Monte Verità, a site characterized by steep slopes, architectural fragmentation, and a layered history of experimentation, this studio project addresses both spatial and social discontinuities embedded in the landscape. The proposal introduces a series of single-occupancy housing units for cross-border workers, increasing residential density while remaining responsive to the site’s existing conditions. An elevated path system serves as the primary organizational strategy, linking dispersed buildings and housing units across the terrain. By operating simultaneously as circulation, infrastructure, and spatial framework, the elevated path establishes accessibility and coherence across the site, transforming fragmentation into a connected architectural system.
